General contest rules apply. The contest is run by G.A.P Adventures and sponsored by Sony Canada. The contest runs from May 9, 2008 to September 15, 2008. Voting ends September 15, 2008. Photo+Story combinations submitted up to, and including September 12, 2008 will be valid for the current contest. Winners will be notified by e-mail and announced in our e-newsletter bridging the gap no later than September 30, 2008. Once a winner has been notified by e-mail of their win, they will have 2 weeks to contact the G.A.P Adventures reservations team who will require all of their contact details and review the procedures for claiming a prize / booking a trip.
One entry submitted between May 9, 2008 and May 31, 2008 will be selected to win the 'Earlybird Prize'. This prize consists of a Sony point and shoot digital camera (model DSC-W170) and underwater housing (MPKWD) valued at $580CDN.
Determined as the single entry with the highest ratings submitted by contest voters.
The grand prize winner will receive a $1000CDN value discount voucher from G.A.P Adventures, valid towards the tour price of future bookings, along with a DSLR prize package from Sony consisting of a Digital SLR camera (Model DSLR-A350K), with 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses, a SAL75300 camera bag and ACCAMFM11 extra battery. Total value of Grand Prize is $2320CDN. The grand prize winner will also have their story and photo re-published in the G.A.P Adventures e-newsletter.

The honourable mention winner will receive a DSLR prize package from Sony consisting of a Digital SLR camera (Model A200K), with 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses, a SAL75300 camera bag and ACCAMFM11 extra battery. Total value of Honourable Mention Prize is $1020CDN.
With the exception of the Grand Prize winner which is solely determined by user votes, the photo contest winners will be chosen by a panel of G.A.P Adventures employees, taking user votes and ratings, creativity, composition and content relevance into account, and is not subject to appeal.
All prizes are non-transferable and substitutions will not be permitted. Travel vouchers are valid for the upfront tour costs of bookings on guaranteed departure dates only, and travel must be completed within 1 year of contest end date. Travel vouchers can not be used towards local payment, insurance or other third party services as determined. Winners will be notified by email and announced in our e-newsletter no later than one month after the end date of the contest. It is the responsibility of the winner to contact the G.A.P Adventures reservations department within 2 weeks of their winning email notification. Failure to do so will likely result in forfeiting the prize, and an alternate winner being chosen.
By submitting images and stories into our photo story contest you give G.A.P Adventures the legal right to use and publish your submitted materials for future brochures, newsletters and other campaigns without compensation. Other options are available to professional photographers and writers who seek compensation for their work, please contact the G.A.P Adventures design and marketing department. Some entries will be selected and acknowledged in the G.A.P Adventures e-newsletter bridging the gap, in addition to the winning entries.
Entrants acknowledge that all entries, both photos and stories, must be their own original content. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Participants acknowledge these contest rules are to be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Canada and laws of Ontario. By entering the contest and agreeing to our terms and conditions, the winners confirm their eligibility and compliance with the contest rules and release G.A.P Adventures, its partners and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies from all liability caused by, or resulting from, the acceptance or use of the contest prize.
This contest is open to all participants, except employees of G.A.P Adventures, Altun Limited, its partners and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies. Residents of countries or provinces where they are prohibited or restricted in entering online contests are also prohibited from entering.
G.A.P Adventures, Altun Limited, its partners, sponsors, affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies each assume no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, or misdirected entries, or for any failure of the website or voting process during this contest, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, services, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by G.A.P Adventures on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or the website or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrants, or any other persons computer, related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.
G.A.P Adventures will conduct periodic reviews of online votes to verify their validity. Unethical voting practices can and may result in certain IP addresses and participants being banned, with voting corrections taking place. Any attempt to deliberately damage the website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of the Criminal and Civil laws, and should such an attempt be made G.A.P Adventures reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
If this contest has an offline component then physical ballot entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
G.A.P Adventures reserves the right to extend the duration of any of our photo contests. G.A.P Adventures reserves the right to change the terms of this contest, or terminate it at any time, without prior notice.
All entries become the property of G.A.P Adventures and none will be returned. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants who will be notified by email and announced in our e-newsletter. Entrants, by entering this contest, agree to abide by these contest rules. Contest winners must consent to the use of their name or photograph, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by G.A.P Adventures.
Entrants agree that the personal information collected for purposes of this contest can be collected, used and disclosed by G.A.P Adventures in accordance with its privacy policy which is available on its web site.
