What Gap Adventures Does

The foundation of our success is built on one very simple principle: Do the right thing all the time, every time. For our staff, for our travellers, and for the people and places we visit. Our pledge to do the right thing is a commitment to continually challenge ourselves to see the big picture and bring about meaningful and positive change whenever we can.

As a leader in sustainable adventure travel, we work closely with all our partners to ensure they operate in accordance with our Ecotourism Operator Standards. We constantly re-evaluate and improve how our tours are run from the ground up, often taking suggestions from sustainable-minded travellers into account. As part of our philosophy to operate responsibly and sustainably at all levels of the company, we strive to follow and continually improve upon the following criteria:

This Earth Month

Our offices around the world are celebrating Earth Month and raising funds for our Kenya Water Project.

UK - London, April 18th

Our team in London undertook their own walk for water, carrying 20kg of water between them for 6km from Gap Adventures London office to the Kenya Embassy in support of Planeterra's Kuwour Community*. Why 6km? this is the average distance most women and children in sub-saharan Africa must walk each day to collect water, except they often have to carry 20kg each.

Positive Impact

The introduction of tourism into a region has a profound effect on local communities. Gap Adventures works to ensure that this impact is positive, providing economic, social and cultural benefits. When travelling with a tour operator, ensure through your research that they contribute to the well-being of local communities and are involved in local initiatives to improve access to health care, skills training and resource development.
