Events
TORONTO - DecemberJoin G.A.P Adventures for a night of Travel Trivia Fun. Where is Machu Picchu? What is the capital of Morocco? Where is Miyajima Island? What is Lumbini known for? If you know the answer to these questions, or are interested in knowing the answers, then this night is for you! Join us for some Travel Trivia, treats and music! Donations accepted at the door for our non profit organization Planeterra.
The holidays are a time when many people focus on how they can help others all around the world. Join Liz Manning, G.A.P Adventures' Sustainability Manager, and our Adventure Specialists for a presentation about G.A.P Adventures' non-profit organization, Planeterra and our Volunteer Tours. Created in 2003, Planeterra - the G.A.P Adventures Foundation is our non-profit organization that was developed to give back to the people and places we visit on our tours. Planeterra supports local community projects, non-profit organizations and international charities. G.A.P Adventures offers a number of volunteer adventures in which travellers can help to make a difference to the quality of life in local communities. The benefits for travellers are greater cultural immersion, more time in the community and the ability to take a hands-on approach to bringing about positive changes. Donations accepted at the door will go directly to Planeterra.
Join us for a screening of the documentary 'Buena Vista Social Club'. The Buena Vista Social Club was a members club in Havana, Cuba which held dances and musical activities, becoming a popular location for musicians to meet and play during the 1940s. In the 1990s, nearly 50 years after the club was closed, it inspired a recording made by Cuban Musician Juan de Marcos Gonzalez and American guitarist Ry Cooder with traditional Cuban musicians, some of whom were veterans who had performed at the club during the height of its popularity.
The recording, named Buena Vista Social Club after the Havana institution, became an international success and the ensemble was encouraged to perform with a full line-up in Amsterdam in 1998. German director Wim Wenders captured the performance on film, followed by a second concert in Carnegie Hall, New York City for a documentary that included interviews with the musicians conducted in Havana. Wenders's film was released to critical acclaim, receiving an Acadamy Award nomination for Best Documentary feature. Come and enjoy this spectacular documentary - we'll provide the hot chocolate and candy canes! Donations accepted at the door for our non profit organization Planeterra.

Travel is my life!!!
I have worked in almost every facet of Travel and Tourism since graduating from Humber Collage Travel and Tourism program 12 yrs ago. I have spent many years working in Europe and the Caribbean as a Destination Representative and Destination Supervisor in Central and South America. I have also done a fair share of cruising in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Agean. I have worked for Canadian, British and Spanish companies in tourism and hospitality divisions and lived and visited over 32 countries.
Finally I have found a perfect match! G.A.P Adventures is my idea of what travel is all about!

I have extensive travel experience, including completing my teaching degree in Australia, working as a teacher in England for two years , volunteering in Thailand and spending nearly 3 months exploring South America. I have organized trips of various length and style and have visited 28 countries, with a list of countries to see that grows longer every day!
I believe it is important to be passionate and dedicated to what you are doing, which makes working at G.A.P Adventures a perfect fit for me. I have spent the last six years travelling and exploring the world and its many cultures. I have realized that what I have is not just a travel bug, but a desire to dedicate my life and work to travel. I have a passion for travel, discovering the world and new cultures and love having the opportunity every day to share this passion with others. I get great satisfaction in helping people plan their adventures so they can experience some of what I have in this great world.
G.A.P Adventure trips I have taken: Peru Panorama, Voyage Galapagos and Amazon & Atlantic.
Favourite Quote:” We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventures. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” Jawaharlal Nehru
Coming from a family of travellers, I credit my parents for my addiction to travel!
After finishing up my diploma in Tourism and Travel my feet were itchy and the world was my remedy! I took off exploring as soon as I could, with my travels taking me all over North America, Eastern and Western Europe, Thailand, Costa Rica, Argentina, Bolivia, Anttarctica and most recently to the wildlife paradise of the Galapagos Islands .
Working for G.A.P Adventures is a wonderful convergence of my passion for travel and people. I feel extremely lucky to be part of such a great group of travel junkies who share my craving for exploration! My list of places to see is far from complete and I look forward to seeing you on the road and helping you plan your next great adventure.
