Come and join us for a presentation and slide show by travel authour Vivien Lougheed. Understanding Bolivia is a traveller’s history that reveals the backbone of local cultures from the Tihuanacans and Inca to present day Aymara and Quechua. The book describes what made Bolivia the second poorest country in the Americas and how it disposed of almost 200 presidents in the same number of years.

Staff Bios
My travels began at the age of two when my mom took me
around England, Scotland and France by car. Back in Canada, based in Ontario, I saw a little more of the country from the passenger seat every year...slowly feeding my passion, and eventual addiction to travel.
My first travels on my own led me to Mexico, which I love and have visited numerous times. On my fourth trip to Mexico I planned to work as a volunteer for six months to fully experience life there. I stayed for five years during which
time I began working with G.A.P Adventures as a tour leader on trips through Mexico and Central America! I eventually moved back to Vancouver where I graduated from
UBC with a degree in Latin American
Studies and received my certification as a translator.
I have also travelled to Australia, Fiji, Thailand and Nepal. When I'm not planning your vacations and adventures I can be found at the beach or park with my beloved basset hound or on the seawall training for my next big run. Peru and Bolivia are first on my list for
the next time I dust off my backpack!

My passion for travel started at an early age. Having lived in South Africa my parents decided to return home to Scotland to live and that is where I apparently picked up my funny accent!!
With Europe so close, this is where I spent most of my early travelling years before graduating University and picking up a real case of the travel bug which was to last nearly 3 years.
During this time I travelled through Brazil,Paraguay,Argentina,Bolivia,Chile,Peru,New Zealand,Australia, and Singapore. Returing back to live in Scotland I then continued to travel extensivly in Europe and also returned back to South Africa.
The travel bug was to grab me again in 2007 and so I dusted off the old backpack and went to Mexico,Belize,Guatemala,Honduras,Nicaragua and Costa Rica. After a quick visit to the Southern States of USA I landed in beautiful Vancouver!
My backpack will never fully retire and the list of places I want to go is never ending so why not come down to the Kits store and share you stories with us here we would love to hear them.........
