If a sailing ship takes six years to plan and another six years to build, you're bound to have some impressive and interesting details to share. Here are some of our favourite facts..

- Without any money, the building of the ship was a "no budget" project, relying on the natural abundance of the Amazon
- The ship consists of 2 km of wood planking, 40,000 nails and screws, 40 tons of ballast and 6 km of rope!
- The sailcloth measures in at a quarter the size of a football stadium
- The masts are roughly the same height of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro
- Some of the woods from the Amazon include Ipé, Itaúba, Pikea and Muiricatiara
