Day 1 Arrive Cairo
Arrive in Cairo at any time.
Day 2-3 Bahariya Oasis (2B,D)
Explore Cairo on your own before our drive into the Sahara Desert, bound for Bahariya Oasis. Visit the Valley of Golden Mummies, where a cache of gold encased mummies was discovered! The next day visit the temples of Amasis and Alexander the Great, as well as the tomb of Benantui.
Day 4 White Desert (B,L,D)
Today is a travel day to the White Desert, arriving in time for sunset over the extraordinary limestone shapes. Camp under the starry desert sky.
Day 5-6 Dakhla Oasis (2B)
Stroll through the walled gardens of Farafra Oasis, before venturing farther south to Dakhla Oasis and the perfectly preserved village of El-Qasr. Nearby, the great temple of Deir el-Haggar and the ruined town at Amheida testify to the area’s Roman history. The next day, head deeper into the oasis, exploring the Old Kingdom tombs at Qila el-Dabba and the ruins of Ain Asil.
Day 7 Nubian Desert (B,L,D)
Head into the Nubian Desert, and the prehistoric site of Nabta Playa, where stone monuments and an astronomical clock reveal an advanced culture, foreshadowing the Pharaonic civilization. Camp under the open sky.
Day 8 Abu Simbel (B)
Set out early for a long travel day to the temples of Abu Simbel, on the shores of Lake Nasser. Arrive in the afternoon, and visit this fascinating temple at night.
Day 9 Aswan (B)
Morning visit to Abu Simbel, whose Great Temple is one of the most beautiful in Egypt. Drive through the desert towards the Nile valley, arriving in the afternoon at Aswan.
Day 10 Aswan (B)
Morning excursion to Philae temple on the attractive island of Agilkai. Return to charming Aswan via the massive Unfinished Obelisk.
Day 11 Luxor (B)
Drive to the temples at Kom Ombo and Edfu—one of the best-preserved in Egypt—on either side of the Nile. Continue to Luxor, a spectacular end to a remarkable desert adventure.
Day 12 Luxor-Cairo (B,D)
Tour the Valley of the Kings, including the Western Valley tomb of Ay. Visit the chapel of Ramose in the Valley of the Nobles, and end the morning with the Colossi of Memnon. Night train to Cairo
Day 13 Depart Cairo (B)
