Day 1 Arrive Delhi
Arrive in Delhi at any time.
Day 2-3 Jaipur
Travel to the Pink City of Jaipur. Visit India's second most viewed site, the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds. Follow in the footsteps of the royal harem, ride an elephant to the Amber Fort Palace clinging atop a rocky hill or groove along to the singing and dancing of a Bollywood film at the art deco Raj Mandir cinema.
Day 4 Agra
Visit the Taj Mahal, this icon of Mughal architecture either in the early morning or late afternoon for the best light. We will ride on one of the ubiquitous cycle rickshaws to visit the Red Fort.
Day 5-6 Orchha
Travel to picturesque Orchha and spend time enjoying the peaceful rural charm of this riverside town. Explore the many temples and palaces spread along the river or hire a bicycle and ride out into the surrounding countryside.
Day 7-8 Varanasi
Arriving today into legendary Varanasi, the quintessential Indian holy city. Walk the narrow twisting alleys, poke around some of the literally thousands of temples and shrines, and experience the energy of the dawn rituals of bathing along the ghats.
Day 9 Bhairawa/Lumbini, India/Nepal Border
Leave Varanasi to travel to the Nepalese border. Pass through immigration and customs and continue on to the great Buddhist pilgrimage centre and birthplace of the Buddha, Lumbini.
Day 10-11 Chitwan National Park
This is wildlife viewing at its best. Seize the opportunity to ride an elephant through the national park on safari before you join a guided hike through the Park in search of the Royal Bengal tiger and one-horned rhino. There will also be time for canoeing, bird watching or to visit an elephant breeding centre.
Day 12-13 Pokhara
Travel from the plains to the mountains. Nestled in a tranquil valley at an altitude of 827m, Pokhara is a place of natural beauty. The serenity of Phewa Lake and the magnificence of the fish-tailed summit of Machhapuchhre (6977m) rising behind it create an ambiance of peace and tranquility.
Day 14 Kathmandu
