Day 2 Cuzco
Explore as you acclimatize! Cuzco has cobblestone streets, fabulous bargains on alpaca woollies and a wide variety of charming shops and restaurants.
Day 3-5 Lares Trek (3B, 3L, 2D)
Leave early in the morning and travel by bus through the Sacred Valley to the start point of the hike. Spend the morning in the village of Qeshwarani. Continue upwards through the valley and arrive at the indigenous community of Cuncani. Cross the challenging 4440m Condor Pass, with stunning views of Mount Veronica (5750m,) then descend gently to beautiful Ipsaycocha Lake, our last campsite. Finally, on the last day, follow the trail downhill past stunning lookouts of Patacancha. Take the evening train to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night.
Day 6 Machu Picchu/Cuzco
Very early in the morning take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu for early morning views of the lost city of the Incas. Join a guided tour of the ruins, with plenty of free time afterwards to explore on your own. In the afternoon catch the train back to Cuzco.
