Day 1 - Oban
Embark the M/S Expedition in the afternoon and begin our journey.
Day 2 - Ailsa Craig & Sanda Island
Moor off Ailsa Craig which rises majestically from the sea. Choose to either walk to the top of the island (1,114 feet), or visit the keep and enjoy the birdlife. Sail across to Sanda Island, keeping a watchful eye for seals, the harbour porpoise and basking sharks.
Day 3 - Treshnish & Tobermory
Explore the tiny, uninhabited Treshnish Islands. Home to thousands of sea birds and a large population of common and Atlantic grey seals. Sail around the north coast of Mull to Tobermory, where we will moor for the night.
Day 4 - Rhum & Loch Scavaig
Sail at first light for the island of Rhum, a nature reserve. Visit Kinloch Castle, an extraordinary Edwardian fantasy. Spend the afternoon in Loch Scavaig, a dramatically beautiful place that is best appreciated from the sea.
Day 5 - Canna & North Uist
Spend the morning on Canna, enjoying coastal walks, watching for shorebirds, golden and white-tailed eagles and peregrine falcons. Sail to Lochmaddy for a visit to the famous bird reserve of Balranald.
Day 6 - Mingulay and Barra
Explore the uninhabited islands at the very tip of South Uist. Making good use of our Zodiacs, explore the islands and enjoy the beach landings. These islands are a nature reserve with important breeding populations of razorbills, guillemots, black guillemots, puffins, fulmars and shags.
Day 7 - St Kilda
Sail through the Sound of Barra to St Kilda, a remarkable uninhabited archipelago, 50 miles beyond the Outer Hebrides. We drop anchor off Village Bay on the island of Hirta and wander through the village.
Day 8 - Taransay and Callanish
Sail along the west coast of Lewis to the island of Taransay. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon exploring the island famous for its lovely beaches. Visit Callanish Stones, a cross-shaped setting of standing stones erected around 2000 BC, one of the most spectacular megalithic monuments in Scotland.
Day 9 - North Rona
The last islanders left North Rona in 1844 and today it is home to 13 species of breeding seabirds including large colonies of great black-backed gulls, great skuas and puffins. The island still boasts the Celtic ruins of St Ronan's Chapel.
Day 10 - Stromness & Copinsay, Orkney
Discover Maes Howe and other nearby archaeological sites. Visit the Standing Stones of Stenness; Ring of Brodgar with its more than 5,000-year-old ceremonial circles; and nearby Skara Brae, a seaside Stone Age settlement. Later, explore the tiny Copinsay Islands, known for their prolific and accessible seabird colonies.
Day 11 - Fair Isle and Shetland
This morning call at Fair Isle, a tiny community of 60. Sail to Lerwick, the Shetland capital and begin your exploration of this historic port with a tour that wanders its narrow stone lanes. Continue on to the Neolithic ruins of Jarlshof.
Day 12 - Invergordon
No Scottish wildlife trip would be complete without a visit to the Highlands. Drive deep into Caledonia to the Corimont Reserve,this beautiful reserve is a treasure trove for anyone who loves birds.
Day 13 Depart Leith, Edinburgh
