Demonstrations by anti-government protestors at both Bangkok airports continued today. Police negotiations are also still in the process. The atmosphere at both airports is still calm and no violent confrontations have occurred. G.A.P. Adventures operations team in Bangkok are assisting passengers who are stranded or trying to join up with their tour. All tours are still running as scheduled.

Both Suvarnabhumi and the smaller, domestic Don Mueang airport remain closed today. Authorities are still trying to end the blockade at both airports.
Some airlines started flying passengers out of a naval airbase approximately 150km outside of Bangkok on Friday.
All of the G.A.P. Adventures tours that are scheduled to start in Bangkok over the weekend and on Monday have not been amended and are still running as scheduled. The G.A.P. Adventures operations teams in Bangkok and around the world are continuously monitoring the situation at the airports and within the city. Please continue to monitor this page for any updates.

G.A.P Adventures operations management continues to monitor the situation in Bangkok and assess the conditions of all our tours. Right now, the scene remains peaceful and no violence is reported. No touristic facilities are interrupted, other than the airport closure. As such, tours are all proceeding as per scheduled.
However, due to potential arrival complications, G.A.P Adventures does welcome any passengers on the following departures to begin their tours on November 30th (Day 2 of the tour) in Siem Reap:

Passengers on the following departures are welcomed to begin their tours on December 3rd (Day 3 of the tour) in Chaing Mai:

With that, we ask for a window of 24 hours to see if this situation improves, and at that time, if you are unable to arrive into Bangkok, or Siem Reap, G.A.P Adventures will endeavor to help you change your travel plans accordingly.

The situation at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok has changed from a partial closure to a full closure. Anti-government protests are continuing and all incoming and outgoing flights have been cancelled or rerouted. It is reported that the Thai Prime Minister has returned to Thailand and government discussions are in process. G.A.P. Adventures is very closely monitoring the situation. No current or future trips have been cancelled or rerouted.

Suvarnabhumi Airport has been partially closed at 9pm (UTC) on November 25th due to anti-government protesters blocking the entrance of the airport. Currently incoming flights are still arriving, but outbound flights have been cancelled. G.A.P. Adventures is monitoring the situation extremely closely. Mumbai Shootings

The siege has ended and police regain control of Mumbai. Authorities continue their investigations on this week's attacks. G.A.P. Adventures operations team continues to monitor the situation. No further trips have been cancelled or altered at this time. Please continue to monitor this page for updates.

G.A.P. Adventures continues to monitor the situation in Mumbai and we want to advise that all passengers that are currently on tour with us in India are safe. We have made the decision to re-route the Tigers and Wildlife Adventure which was scheduled to arrive in Mumbai to finish the trip. This tour has now been rerouted to end in Delhi on November 30th.

G.A.P Adventures continues to monitor the situation in Mumbai and assess the safety and conditions of all our tours in the region. There has recently been new gunfire and explosions in Mumbai late Thursday. With the safety of our passengers and staff as our main concern, we have deemed it necessary to cancel the upcoming Deccan Discovery - Mumbai to Goa tour which was scheduled to depart from Mumbai on November 30th. We are in the process of contacting all passengers who are booked on this tour. If you are booked on this tour please contact your travel agent or G.A.P Adventures right away for further information.

G.A.P. Adventures has been closely monitoring the situation in Mumbai as the all the events have unfolded. The safety of our passengers and staff is our outmost concern and therefor have deemed it necessary to slightly alter the itinerary of the Uncover India - Delhi to Goa tour that departed Delhi on November 17th. The group will spend an additional day in Mt. Abu and the fly directly to Goa. Currently no other trips have been amended or re-routed but please continue to monitor this page for any updates.

There have been several shootings today in Mumbai, India. Seven tourist sites including train stations, restaurantes and two 5 star hotels have been affected. Initial reports advise that 78 people have been killed and many more injured.
No G.A.P. Adventures groups are in Mumbai at the moment and currently no tours have been amended or re-routed. Please monitor this page for updated information.

Thailand/Cambodia Border tension

Tension between Thai and Cambodian soldiers at the ancient Preah Vihear temple have been high since July, but earlier today tensions escalated and gunfires were exchanged. The temple is located on the Thail and Cambodia border, in northern Cambodia but is only excessible from Thailand.
G.A.P. Adventures is monitoring the situation extremely closely. No trips have been amended or rerouted at this point. Please monitor this page for any updates.

Reciprocal Fee to be paid on Entry to Argentina

Everyone entering Argentina with a Canadian, Australian or US passport will be required to pay a reciprocity fee upon arrival in the country. The details have not been fully determined however it is believed that this fee will be implemented on November 1, 2008 and will be in the range of $100 to $130US. We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available.

Floods in Vietnam

Over the weekend (Nov 1-2), parts of northern and central Vietnam, including Hanoi, have been affected by heavy flooding. Rains are expected to continue through to November 4th. All of our groups in Vietnam are fine, and all G.A.P Adventures tours are proceeding as per their itineraries. Our staff on the ground in the region will continue to monitor the situation there, and will assist our leaders in the area to make any adjustments if necessary. Bomb in Sri Lanka

A Tamil Tiger suicide bomber triggered a blast inside opposition party offices in northern Sri Lanka on October 6th. The incident occurred at the home and office of the Opposition leader in Anuradhapura. G.A.P. Adventures is monitoring the situation. No trips have been amended or rerouted at this time.

Flooding in Costa Rica and Panama

Incessant rains on the Caribbean coast of both Costa Rica and Panama are the cause of flooding up and down the Caribbean coast, specifically affecting the Costa Rican provinces of Limon and Sarapiqui, and the Panamanian province of Bocas del Toro. All G.A.P Adventures groups have been in contact and are safe. Some minor itinerary changes have been necessary thus far. We will continue to monitor the situation and post any updates we receive.

Yellow Fever vaccination required for Ecuador

As of March 1st, 2008 all travellers entering the jungle regions of Ecuador are required to show proof of yellow fever vaccination. If your trip is travelling to Tena or you are doing one of our independent adventures into the jungle please be sure to speak to your travel doctor about this vaccination.

Flooding in Southern Brazil

Severe flooding due to heavy rains in Southern Brazil has resulted in a state of emergency for municipalities of Balneário de Piçarras, Canelinha, Indaial, Penha, Paulo Lopes, Presidente Getúlio and Rancho Queimado. All G.A.P Adventures groups are accounted for and all regions visted in our itineraries are unaffected. All G.A.P Adventures tours in Brazil will continue to run as scheduled. Our staff in destination will continue to monitor the situation.
